Mayfair is considered one of London's most exclusive areas with its stately architecture, historic shops and classical restaurants. The origin of the name comes from the annual May fair which was held on the site that is now known as Shepherds Market. Mayfair attracts a dynamic and wealthy crowd from all corners of the globe due to its profusion of first class amenities, exclusive hotels and famous venues.

Being such a central and affluent area, Mayfair has been home to its fair share of famous residents including, Benjamin Disraeli, Winston Churchill, Florence Nightingale, Jimi Hendrix, Vivien Leigh, Peter Sellers and perhaps its most famous ex-resident of all, HRH Queen Elizabeth II, who was born in Bruton Street and lived in Mayfair as a child.

Mayfair has amongst the finest selection of Georgian townhouses in London as well as the sought-after 19th century terracotta apartment blocks and an array of discreet mews houses of all sizes and descriptions.

The area is home to the richest concentration of public and private galleries in London, including the Royal Academy of Arts as well as the leading auction houses. It boasts Saville Row, the exclusive street populated with the world’s finest and most coveted tailors and some of the glitziest shopping in the capital is to be found on Bond Street.

If this isn’t enough, the district is surrounded by some of the finest green spaces in London, with Green Park and St. James’ park to the South and Hyde Park to the West.
